I recieved this cross from a co-worker of my mothers. My son was born December 16th, 2010 at 28 weeks 6 days. His due date was set for March 4th 2011. He was 11 weeks and 1 day early and weighed a tiny 1 lb 11oz. He was God given and there is no denying that he was meant to be born into this world when he did. One event that explains that is the fact that my husband and I went to the doctor Wednesday December 15th 2010 for a normal 7 month appointment. When we got there the front desk informed me that I had the appointment date mixed up and we didn’t have an appointment until Friday Dec. 17th. They were able to fit me in due to a cancellation from the snow storm we were about to recieve. Later in the appointment when the doctor measured my tummy she realized I was 2 cm smaller than predicted and she wanted to do an ultra sound to make sure that things were going as they should. She reassured us she was probably being overly cautious but better to be safe than sorry. In
the ultrasound they found out baby Daniel was only in the 10th percentile for his age and my placenta had basically quit working. We were sent into a tailspin when the doctor informed me that we would have a baby by Friday, and not to plan to be home for Christmas. She also explained to us that if we had actually come in on Friday, there was a very good possibilty that Daniel would not have had a heartbeat anymore. I get cold chills even now, nearly a year later. We were sent immediatly to St. Vincent for Women where Daniel was born on Thursday Dec. 16th. There are many events that happened throughout my pregnancy, his birth, and the 77 days we spend in the NICU that could only be explained by God. Daniel is now 10 1/2 months old, 14.5 lbs and so handsome. I look at him everyday and Thank God for the choosing us to be his parents.
