I am currently 28 weeks pregnant. At 20 weeks, our son, Aiden was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. Essentially, he has half of a functioning heart. Once he is born, he will need to undergo open heart surgery. He will have another open heart surgery between 4 and 6 months of age, and then another before he turns three. Thirty years ago, there was nothing that doctors could do for HLHS. Now with these surgeries, he has a good chance of living a relatively normal life. We are scared and heartbroken for our little guy, but we have faith that he will be ok. We know God is with us and we have an incredible support system. I received this cross from a sweet friend and it is something that will be with me throughout this journey. Thankful for this ministry and for Mrs. Lida who thought to send it to me. <3
