I was part of a business building group hosted by Christian life coaches. We had an event where several business owners were sharing their businesses and giving complimentary products. Elizabeth was there; we all had crosses, but it was only after Elizabeth spoke that I realized the power and intent of the crosses. As a writing coach and editor who helps people share their life stories, I immediately loved the idea and prayed over the cross.
The person that came to my spirit to give the cross to is a young lady I mentored while she was an undergraduate student at USF. We connected through a campus ministry and become like family. She shared her future visions and goals with me, and I always supported her, one of her desires was to do missionary work overseas. She ended up spending a few years in Uganda, returned to the states for a year to work and raise money to do the World Race (a missionary trip where participants do missions work in 11 countries over the course of 11 months). Of course, I was compelled to do what I could to help her raise money. At times, it looked as if she wouldn’t reach her fund-raising goal, but God is faithful and she was off…
At the time of the event where I received my cross, this young lady was in the midst of doing her 11-month multi-country mission. I knew I was to hold onto the cross until she returned and pass it along to her. How much more appropriate that the cross has the word “Love” on it because she has been motivated by love and God’s calling on her life to sacrifice her comfort, health at times and life to serving others in some of the most remotest, dangerous places in the world. As I finally sit down to register the cross and share this story, I realize it is the morning of Valentine’s Day…God is truly strategic because I couldn’t have planned this better. I will be seeing this young woman tomorrow and passing along the “Love” cross to her…
