Our 22nd grandchild was born with a serious heart condition and had his first open heart surgery at Johns Hopkins All Childrens Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL. Oliver was just 3 days old. My husband and I had flown from California to Florida to help support my son and his wife in any way we could. We stayed at the Ronald McDonald House when we weren’t at the hospital. The staff and volunteers at the house were incredible at seeing to all our needs so that we could be there for my son’s family. Rather than let Mothers Day pass unnoticed, I was given my heart as a gift, with the message that, I too, am loved.
