These three crosses were given to Sr. Clare, Sr. Margaret and Charles
Naku. Sr. Clare and Sr. Margaret are Franciscan sisters at the Mama
Kevina Comphrehensive Secondary School in Tororo, Uganda. The school
boards, teaches and nutures high school students that have been orphaned by
HIV/AIDS, war and floods. Real Medicine Foundation (RMF)provided
training to the teachers and local health care providers in acupuncture
protocols and yoga techniques for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Charles Naku is the local Uganda Project Coordinator for RMF’s projects
at Mama Kevina and the Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement. A fourth cross
was given to Jane, a Kenyan refugee residing at the Kiryandongo
Settlelment. Recently Jane’s older daughter, Naomi had died from Malaria
because the health clinic ran out of medication. Infected with AIDS Jane
struggles daily to support her remaining daughter, Lucy. Jane is very
grateful for the support from RMF and appreciated the cross given to her
as a symbol of hope.
